La Tela de la Muerte.
Patriarchy. Machismo. The cloth of death.

How much is a human life worth? How much is a woman’s life worth? How much is my life worth?

The cloth represents the brutal murders and injustice in which the woman is surrounded and with whom she must make friends. The cloth connects us all – we are fighting the same fight. It doesn’t matter if I live in Austria, where 31 women are being murdered per year (1) or in Mexico, where annually about 940 official femicides are being documented. (2) We are women – that should nowhere be the reason to die.

Mexico is high in the international ranking of number of femicides. (3) Per day about 10 women die, but there exists a big lack of information and justice. (4)(5) 97 % of all femicides go unpunished. (4)(6) Individual cases are being seen as one whole issue and it has already become normality to the society. It should not be a normality.

Women should be free. We should be able to go out on the street without fear. He has to stop killing us, raping us, kidnapping us. We want the visibility that we are here. It happens to us because we are women, and we live in an oppressive system where free women are being feared. Let them all see that we are here, and we are very angry.
