In our work „der wilde Mann und die tote Frau“ (the wild man and the dead woman) we show a sequence of actions that is similar to a ritual and brings general knowledge about the femicides of 2024 into the picture: long braids that are trailed behind like flames.
Each braid for a year, each bow for a femicide* or attempted murder. Each flower for a woman whose voice was taken from her long ago and which she has now lost completely. The knife, the most frequently used weapon in the attack. The triangular grave of the woman, as the shape of her own roof and a symbol of the pyramid of violence. Where does misogyny begin and where does it end as femicide?
The wild man is a reference to our homeland where we feel safe, but we often consciously look away. He always said hello so nicely. But you don‘t know what goes on behind the closed door. However, if we decide to take a closer look, we can see the symbols clearly.
